So my new 16 x 16 auto open clam shell stahls heat press arrived the other day...went to do my first foil job on it...set the temp to 375...pressed foil and it came out horrible...so i shot the heated platen with my temp gun and it read 410 degress..thats a 35 degree swing.....i turned it off..let it cool down completely...lit it up again ..set it to 375...i shoot the temp gun again it reads 408...so i had to drop the temp down to 330 in order to get the press to read 375 with temp gun...thats a 45 degree swing.. (my temp gun is trust worthy..i use it for my 8ft dryer and wash test shirts i print so i know it reads properly)....
Anyway...i call stahls today and explain all of this and follow up with a question: Can i re calibrate the digital display to read properly (i.e. what the actual heat is of the press)...and speaking to tech support i was told yes...i have to turn it on...let it get to its max temp in normal operating condition....once temp is reached...turn it off...press plus and minus buttons at same time...turn heat press back on....shoot platen with temp gun....whatever gun says, adjust temp with plus/minus buttons.....once set hit mode button repeatedly until it is in normal mode....and that resets he digital display.
Did all of this but i cant get the press to go past 360 when im pressing the plus button.
So im totally confused....there is nothing in the directions explaining this process.
Can the display be recalibrated? Any have this problem? Its brand new out the box from stahls....dont they test the temps in the inspection process?..should i send it back to be replaced???
