vinyl recommendations

Hi gang,
we just bought a new Roland GX24 cutter and need to bring in some vinyl.
My question is what vinyl recommendations would anyone care to offer on brands / styles ?
Looking for window vinyl / automotive vinyl intermediate quality.
there are so many brands and types and naturally everyone vending same has 1000 reasons why I should buy their brand.
Looking for some real world user recommendations.

Oracal 651 is pretty standard, I would recommend to stay away from avery and FDC....check out Fellors, should be one out your way:

Yup, Fellers and Oracal.
Like Homer said, 651 can do most of the stuff, but I like 751 a lot more.
On a bigger projects and stuff, I use 751. I buy white and black in 150 feet rolls, everything else in 10 yards.

Yup 651 is a great product. I've tried the cheaper stuff and the difference is in the weeding. 651 weeds very easily.

Hey Mooseman,

We use Oracal exclusively.

Important distinction between the two: read up on this for sure!
-there is a major difference in the way they are made-
651-Calendared (medium longevity)
751/951-CAST (much more stable way of manufacturing)
Cast is only way to go for vehicle graphics and long term signage and happy customers in the long run.

Every mfg has Calendared and Cast.
Calendared is great for almost any other use- cut away!

651 shrinks too much for vehicles.....As a test install some 651 and 751 on your vehicle....After a few months as it shrinks, dirt starts sticking to the adhesive.....

Wow this is why I ask these questions, ya gotta talk to the people that use the stuff you buy not the guys that sell it. the stories are usually mostly the same but it is the ending that is different.

That's the calendared vs cast effect.  Calendared is stretched, cast is not... so calendared will try to return to original size (shrink).

We just started doing vinyl. Like everyone else said, Oracal 651 for most (window decals, etc), 751 for vehicle graphics or outdoor signs.

I tried Arlon. That stuff weeds horribly. I wouldn't try anything else unless it was given to me for free.

We use Oracal and Avery, Avery A-6 and A-9 are equivalent to Oracal 651 and 751 respectively (although Avery A-9 really falls between Oracal 751 and 951)

Zero problems with Avery cut vinyl so far, although I'm aware of the Avery and 3M debacles in the car-wrap world of printed vinyls....
