Shop Management Software
« on: September 10, 2013, 04:26:14 PM »
Okay, so we are very very very discouraged and sick of our current shop management software. What is everyone else using? We want something RELIABLE with CUSTOMER SUPPORT. The current customer support/tech support is horrendous and our entire shop accounting/scheduling is being completely thrown off every single day because of this program we are currently using.

I have not tried anything else, but we are happy with TeeCal and could not run the shop without it. We had some issues when they had a new release, but all were handled like they were M&R! I even received a call back at 11pm on one occasion!

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

We are 2 years now on PriceIt and my office girls seem to love it. I got enticed at a tradeshow by the Shopworks stuff, but my wife wouldn't let me switch, said PriceIt is more than we need at this point. I follow her lead on that stuff since she runs front of house. The way I see it, if the girls up front are rocking out qoutes, staying on top of invoicing, and having a ver easy and fun time with the wares, I am then  happy about it. I do know PriceIt guys were really great with the set up and training, setting you up remotley. You don't ever really " Own" the software, but you never pay extra for upgrades, and any time anyone has had a question, they pick up and take your call on the first call, which is hugely important. Not that some other companies aren't like that, but I've read threads where shops go days without return contact. The fact that you get them in the first call is huge. It's very modestly priced, and when you dig into it, there really isn't much that other wares have, that you can't do with it. So for us now, I don't see the reason for anything more than it. It does sync with quickbooks like most, but what we found, they do everything within it, so there is no reason to even use quickbooks anymore once you are up and running with the system. We are about to add a couple more PC station out in the production area and have installs on those for production schedules, shipping ect. It's all around a great software and company to add to your shop. Unless you become a super huge 8 or more auto shop with truck loads of shirts coming daily, I don't see how you can't get it all done within PriceIt.

Just my 2cents  ;D

I finally figured out my issues with my software, t works. I wasn't going to name it because I don't like to throw people under the bus but my experience has been very bad and I want people to be aware.

I have file maker pro 10. The website states that 10 or higher is required to run the software. Well, I have 10 so I meet requirements however my software doesn't operate correctly. Ok, I download fm pro 12 and the issues are resolved (from what I can tell). So, now I'm facing spending another $480 to upgrade my three copies of FM pro, which is really a shame. If it was stated up front that FM 10 may not handle all features correctly I'd understand, but there are no disclaimers or anything.

Just to make it clear, I really really like the t-works manager software. I simply dis like the lack of timely customer support. I've tried contacting joe plenty of times to resolve this behind the scenes and yes he will respond at times but it tends to be days after I contact him and even then the solutions don't always work which led to his latest suggestion of "I don't know maybe you just need to install fm 12"

Sorry to rant, I'm just very perturbed right now.

that was a cool thing about PriceIt as well, we didn't have to be sure to have another application on computers just to run the management software. Glad you were able to get things figured out though!!

The thing I didn't see on PriceIt was the virtual proofs. T-Works is really an excellent program, and the proofs where you just drop in your art files is very quick and convenient. Does PriceIt have something similar to that? Maybe I just didn't see it.
