Tag printers
« on: August 12, 2013, 06:43:30 PM »
Anyone have a tag printer? Likes dislikes? Or maybe what are people's opinions or observations about them?
I have wanted one for a while, but we needed another auto more so we made that work last year. Now we REALLY need a tag printer and thought to myself that I don't really remember seeing much of any talk on any boards about them.

The one I like the most and unless otherwise turned on to another company/brand is the RapidTag from ASPE. I have talked to the guys there a bit about them and they seem like great guys, having trouble getting a email back now though but I will call them tomorrow.

Just wondering what the boards think!

it looks handy. though i do not have the volume to make it a worthy investment at the moment.
a local dealer just distributed it.

Yeah, those little auto guys are handy. However, I would also look at the DiamondBack L I believe. Small enough footprint, you can bust out tags just as fast, but also do small prints on fronts of shirts as well. So you could have best of both worlds and it can be wheeled around the shop out of the way when not in use. At least I think!

Have you considered pad printing?

We have one of ASPE machines and like it.   We also have a first generation machine that was made by OTS - basically a one armed bandit it's really nice and in good shape - would consider parting with it if you were interested - give me a call tomorrow and I could make a deal for you on it.

They seem like a lot, but if it frees up your autos for doing auto work then it's a good investment if you do a lot of relabeling.  80% of the jobs we do end up requiring it and it's a must have for us.

Thanks for the responses guys!

I have checked out the ones OTS makes even though their website makes me want to pull my hair out! :P I can't see how they are much superior than the ASPE ones are. Their 1 color ones are relatively close in price, but from what I can tell do not offer a flash/cure so the product is done once it comes off the press. That is a huge negative. Once you step up to their "Mantis" line the flashes are there but so is like $5K extra that ASPE doesn't have.

I also checked out the Inkcups one, but that is a blatant knock off of the ASPE one, but they again added a couple thousand for their troubles. The communication I have had from them has also been lacking.

Spreading Ink- Thanks for chiming in with your user experience!! I really like the RapidTag, and they look like they are working on what I think will be the next "big" thing, their RapidTag XL.

I'd call Randy at OTS they have some nice ones with the flash but as you can see the web site sucks.

Screen Print Products has some better pictures of the OTS ones on their used equipment blog that are new.
