Epson 3000 Streaking...
« on: August 09, 2013, 03:57:32 PM »
This just started today. I did notice my magenta light was on. I put a new cartridge in. Did about 10 head cleanings too. The SOB is still streaking..... no matter what I try. Any suggestions.

Fold a paper towel up and soak it with water or windex. Place it on the park pads where the head rests. Wait.
Run head cleaning and then nozzle check. Repeat if necessary.

Make sure you aren't or didn't run out of black ink. If so and there is air in the ink lines you gotta keep printing
until that air is gone. A large black square printed on regular paper is good for this.

Can't go wrong with the 4880 and a bulk ink system. Not a problem yet (now I'm crossing my fingers!)

4000 to 4880 all good.

Before you give up, try a power cleaning. Also make sure that your
pumping station is working, sucking ink out of the pads. I hate seeing
things go out to pasture unnecessarily. I can just imagine the size of the pile of
printers out in the world.

Any pros or cons?

I think that we, like most forums, probably have both here.  ;)

Just got off the phone with Allan. He said he used the Epson 1340 or is it the 1430?

Also talked to Sigmo. He said to do a power cleaning. I did, no dice. He no longer has any refurbished on hand. I would have to ship it and have it refurbished. Don't have that much time.... So, I am going to have to do something and quick....

The 1430.  Does anyone know what model Epson is replacing the 1430 with?  I'd like a larger format if we ever get a larger format auto and I've got some experience with the 4800 and it was great while it lasted but we compared some film printed on the 4800 to film from the 1400 and the 1400 was cleaner/better.

I would love the 4900, but I'm a cheap azz so I'm looking for maybe 4800 or another 3000..Sigmo told me the same thing awhile back so I might send him one of my old ones for a back up.

Look for the 4900 too. I love mine. Picked it up for 7 bills on Craigslist. Replaced my 4000 that crapped out.

I didn't have much luck finding decent 4880s or 4900s locally. Didn't want to spend $800 on a printer that had seen a lot of use and with how fickle the Epsons can be I chose to go with a one year warranty. Refurbs from Epson are a good deal, if your new printer fails that is what they send you anyways! If the 1430 print size will work for you that is great, but don't forget to check out the 3880. I couldn't live without 17 inch wide output. If you aren't looking to print from a roll the 3880 is a good deal. The ink cartridges aren't huge, but at 80ml they aren't really small like cartridges on the 1430 and r3000 (25.9 ml). While there isn't a blackmax ink system for the 3880 there are high quality refillable cartridges available from Cone Inks     http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.362672/sc.11/category.39310/it.C/.f   . It is also nice to get a printer where Epson hasn't stopped writing new drivers.

Loved my 3000 right up until the second time I took it apart.  Refurbed 3880 from adorama with free shipping and no sales tax and a 1 year warranty $849. Not much more than getting a 3000 refurbished and the positives are sharp. Just a suggestion.

Donnie, I have a black only 3000 I'm selling.  $200 plus shipping.  It used to be Blue Moons.  It works great.  I just bought a used 4900.
Let me know and I can make a vid of it printing.
