Website Question
« on: August 05, 2013, 01:16:18 PM »
I am not a computer genius and our old website host went out of business. I was told to get the files and then upload to my new host. I did that but they said I am missing files so now my site is down. Does anyone know of any inexpensive web designers? I know sometimes a high school or college class will do one for free as part of their project. $ is tight right now.

Thanks!
Brad

Brad,

try this:

everything but the images should be there and you should be able to get those pretty easy.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Pierre,

I did that and my old website came up. How do I turn that into files I can upload to the new host?

it'll depend on what you are missing. . . your best bet is to talk to the person putting it back together (I don't know enough about web design to give you more specific answers). The company hosting this forum could probably host it and get it up and running for you. They are very reasonably priced and seem competent enough that should be able to get it back up and running for few hundred bucks.

PM me for their contact info if you are interested.

You should be able to go into the control panel and download the the files in one zipped file.
You take that to the new host and upload there.
Of course, unzip the files first before uploading
