My take on the Shur-loc Squeegee clean

Today we received our Squeegee clean from Shur-loc. 

first off it is built like a brick.  My screenprinter was like WOW  that is built to last.  he is a gear head so that means a lot coming from him. 

secondly, we knew it was coming in so we did not clean anything last week.  we have 3 complete sets of floodbars and squeegees a total of 48.  Our screen guy had them all cleaned and ready for use in about 35 min.  this normally would have taken him about 3 -4 hrs the old way.  so if we can save 2.5-3 hrs a week and have him do something that is MAKING money well I am all for it.

lastly,  invest in your business and this is a winner in my book.  now that they are all cleaned we have it right next to the cleanup booth and will clean them as they come off the press so there will not be any waiting on a floodbar or squeegee to be cleaned to start the job!

in closing I have to say a job well done by Shur-loc.

If Sam said it is good! Damit it's good!...I just got finished cleaning the same crap which took me about 1, but I only had about half of what they cleaned.  I can see this helping mid to large shops get back on press fast.

How hard is it to get a winged bar in one of these?

Not too bad on the wings, though having two hands would help a ton, which is why we'll be looking at adding a super
slow motor. It is worth it's weight in gold for what it does though.

that is all we have is winged flood bars and he had no problem doing them....I might take a quick video next time he does them.

Awesome.  I brought this up with staff and there was a unanimous "yes please" around here.  We don't do nearly as many blades per day as most but I see a fast ROI on this one.

Nice Sam, Niki  has been looking that them, hate dealing with that part of the process, even though we can do it rather quick in the tank you just kinda put it off because of the mess. Might have to look more serious at these thangs.

Nice review and I'm considering investing in one soon.  But I gotta ask, how were you cleaning them before where it would have taken 3-4 hours to clean the entire lot?

I'm torn in buying one of these because of our Safety Kleen rep/driver and the relationship we've built with them over the years.  Although the service they provide is about $150/2 months, the speed at which we can clean a squeegee and floodbar is about 1 minute for a squeegee and 30 seconds for a floodbar so it makes it worth having.  Now we have another option with the Shurloc unit and it's a one time cost for the unit and the low consumable cost of chemicals making it considerably cheaper than the Safety Kleen parts washer.  I know the SK guys have lost a lot of business the last few years due to all the shops of all kinds going under and now I'm going to have to end the service they've provided so well over the last 6 years.  I hate when good businesses lose work and the guy that comes in and replaces our SK chemical is a great dude and we always spend 15 minutes shooting the shart about fishing, hunting, golf or football.  But in the end it's my job to make this part of SRI as efficient and profitable as possible and keeping SK now that there is a better/cheaper option available I know what I NEED to do, but it's not what I WANT to do.

Alan brings up a good point.  Sam what chemical are you using in the unit?

because by the time you get it to the sink, spray it..clean it with a sponge, rinse it, wipe it, put it back well you have the time...this does it so fast....

we are using franmar beanie doo...so fast again. 

and back to Alan...it is about your Bottom line not someone's who is not keeping up with the times or someone who has a product that is replaced by a better one.  and at 75 bucks a month...this is def worth it.

We were pretty quick at cleaning squeegees/floodbars, but it's such a gross job, even with WB inks, that
everyone would sort of shy away from it and it'd be the last thing to get done always. The Shurloc definitely
does the hardest and most time consuming part best, cleaning out the tiny little groove between rubber and holder.
