Stahls’ CAD-CUT® Direct™ recently released a new video that demonstrates how to create animal print patterns using CadworxLIVE®, CAD-CUT® heat transfer materials, your vinyl cutter and a heat press. This 10-minute presentation by Josh Ellsworth, general manager, Stahls' CAD-CUT Direct, shows three techniques.
The first technique, which is a direct overlap, is a two-color design created for use with CAD-CUT heat transfer materials, a vinyl cutter and your heat press. The second demo, which Ellsworth calls the “showthrough technique,” shows how to create a pattern with only one color of CAD-CUT heat transfer film, a cutter, and a heat press. This method uses the garment color as the background. The area around the animal pattern will need to be weeded out, making this process more labor intensive; however, it uses only one color of film, which lowers the material cost.
The third technique is called the “trapping method,” and it is recommended when using materials that cannot be layered on top of one another. It creates a perfect trap with just enough overlap to maintain the registration of the two material colors.
