Ok so today I was able to try out my new sample of CCI discharge white. I have a couple of questions.
My print came out a more natural color than white. I added 5% activator, that was before i forgot to weight the bucket before I added the ink! ( I know rookie mistake! )
So if you add too much activator will this "dull " the print?
I did this on the manual with a 110 screen and triple stroked my print trying to get good penetration. When it came out of the dryer it felt like it had a bit of a crust on the print. Is this normal?
I will try it again on the auto with a higher mesh count when I get a chance.

I have a sample of Magna to do next as well. Anyone care to give a comparison of the two?

Discharge whites will never guarantee a "snow white", white.  Most of the time, depending on the shirt you are using, you will have a bone white finish. After time of experimenting with different brands, styles and colors, you will find which shirts are best for achieving a bright white. If you have a customer wanting that snow white look, try a discharge underbase with just plain discharge base, and a reduced finish coat of white plastisol, still very soft and you can achieve that snow white finish. I usually use more pressure with discharge to drive it in, less off contact, I love using double beveled squeegees from Xenon for discharge they keep the image clean and drive it deep without flooding out your image. Lots of experience on this board so you should pick up a lot of hints.

Did you activate a whole gallon??? Yes it will feel "crusty" I guess you can say until you wash it.

No I didn't activate the whole gallon !!! I put some ink in a container weighed it and added 5% activator. I should have zeroed it out after i placed the container on the scales. So the percentage of activator included the weight of the quart container.

Activator was probably a little low but yes, most DC White is a bone white but will be a very optically bright weight printed right on the right garments.

Try 6% activator (without counting the container this time), most open mesh you have that will hold the detail, print on contact and drive that ink hard, 1-2 strokes with a 70 or 60/90/60 blade.  Unlike plastisol, you should see white through the back of the garment.

if that magna sample you have is Magna Super White, its the Mutts Nuts!  And I have tried most.

Do let us know if there is a large difference in the Magna and the D-white. We had talked about favorite DC whites a bit back and if I remember correctly it came down to the Magna and Rutland's white, but no one(its on my list) had tried both of the finalists.
