Richmond Solar Beam issue
«

Does anyone here have a Richmond Solar Beam?
I tried exposing some screens on ours this morning, and the Bulb isn't kicking on. I don't think the bulb is bad, but we've had it about a year.
It vacuums, then when i hit the start button it makes what sounds like the starting noise, then nothing!
any idea what this could be

Is the vacuum getting to the required pressure? Ours won't kick on until the vacuum pressure is where it's supposed to be. Another time our unit wouldn't turn on we put a new bulb in and it worked perfectly again.

Uh oh, the storm? That very well could have surged power through the unit and blew the bulb.

Good to hear! That's what breakers are for!
Not like my old Tandberg Reel to Reel back in the '70's that had a $60 motor protecting a 20ยข fuse!

that is my go-to solution, turn it off for at least 10 seconds and turn it back on.
then start with fuses. A bad fuse holder is trickier to find though(had that one)

Rarely the fuse holders fault--look for massive blobs of solder on the terminals. Had more than a couple 'fixed' fuse holders I've had to fix...

take your bulb out, hold it up to some light and see if the contacts that hold the actual lamp in place are in tact. the one we had did this a couple times, coudn't figure it out then took out the bulb, held it up to the light, and you could see one of the contacts on the bulb popped right off of the element inside the housing. you will play heck arguing with Richmond to warrantee that, if that's the issue. you may need to put a power condition between your power source and the unit, these units are very very sensitive to voltage issues.
