printing on hoodie hoods

Other than buying the special equipment to hold down double fabric hoods on hoodies so they can be printed on has anyone else come up with a way to do that? We have tried clips but can't get them placed all the way around the hood because the print is just to the left of the face opening, and we still have lift. We can buy the $300.00 + hold down from silk screening supplies but we are trying to see if we can do something else first before spending the money.

depending on the size and placement, we just print and then press the transfers. It works on smaller orders and simpler prints. . .

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

We custom designed a platten and had PNWCNC make it (now out of business) for printing on the back of the hood. It is shaped like a bullet and has a channel down the center for the seam. It really only works with 1 color prints. It seems like transfers would be the only option for multi-color prints.

Certain style hoodies have single layer hoods. I think Jerzees is one, but don't quote me.

I use transfers for most of my printing needs.. Dowling Graphics in Clearwater Fl has been good to me for over 15 years.. did Sr class shirts.. 200 of them and transfer on the hood worked great.. make sure the hoodie string is out of the hood.. leaves weird line.. if you press on top of it..LOL

We've used discharge ink with great results (obviously the hoodie/print may limit this). Ours was for a 1 color print on Tultex.

I've done them a few times just doing a one hit white on an 86 or 110. We occasionally do 'hooping', but I think the pricing keeps most of those orders in shops that are screwing it up.

Adapt this jacket back idea for a smaller hoodie hold down.
JACKET BACK HOLD DOWN BY MOOSEMAN
go to a craft store buy a wooden hoop ( for needle work) and make a platen,
capture the double layer hoodie in the same method and print carefully.
Or just get graphics from Stahls, digital transfers and squeeze them on with a heat press.
