Hi from the UK
« on: April 09, 2011, 03:58:48 PM »
I'm Dave from Positivity Ltd.
I used to work in R&D for Autotype and gently drifted into pre-press from the graphics side.
Positivity do imagesetters in the UK/Europe. We sell Epson printers with a RIP and film for decent, cost-effective positives.
I do a little repro and separation of prints just to keep my hand in. I'm quite useful on AI/PS/Coreldraw & RIPs.
Good to be here and I look forward to meeting the members.

Dave great to have you here!

Hopefully we can challenge you a little more than "why is my screen not opening?" You might not have to wait very long to actually have somebody question your knowledge and make you rethink what you think you know. From what I have seen, your knowledge of RIPs is downright impressive!!! But we'll try hard to make you scratch your head!

Welcome to our little (peaceful) slice of the internet!

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

My school playing field butted up to the stadium (that's a funny word for a few bits of crumbling concrete covered in tin) of Wigan Athletic, it used to be 35p to get in for kids but it was free if you levered up the corrugated tin sheet fence at break and crawled through the gap.  We are currently bottom of the league and probably due to be relegated next month.  We don't care.   :(

I must say, my good fellow, that it is indeed an honor and pleasure to have your most notable expertise in our company. Now belly up and have a beer. ;)

Okay, now you guys have brought back my '80's!

The daily ritual of buying five bottles on the way home from work. Five bottles? well, I took advantage of "unique" pricing from one particular idiot.
It was something like $4.50 a six pack, or $.50 by the bottle.

I miss both the beer and that particular Rexall Drug Store.

Nor here either as far as I know. I think that the name went to a brewery in Canada, but this stuff ended in the early '80's. along with my single life, stay in San Francisco, and career as a die stamp press operator.

Squeezee.
Congratulation on SURVIVAL!!!
That was a fun (Nerve wrecking) last few minutes. Last five minutes, 3-4 teams changed spots, nobody new who is getting relegated.
Cheers
