I've noticed a tendency for this emulsion to sort of gum up into balls or sheets when reclaiming, rather than dissolve cleanly. I use EasiSolv 820 as a press wash, EasiSolv 701 as an ink degradent, and EasiSolv 5 diluted as an emulsion remover. Anyone else having issues with reclaiming?
Secondly, in addition to this, I was reclaiming a bunch of screens last night. A mix of screens with the Aquasol HVP and Ulano QX-1. The common denominator between them was I'd printed the job with Union's Process Color inks. I'd taken the screens straight off the press to the washout sink a couple of days ago to get the ink out of them with 701. Upon reclaiming last night, the Aquasol exhibited the "normal" gummy balls of emulsion, but with the Ulano, it damn near wouldn't reclaim. Scrub and scrub, barely making a dent. Concentrated pressure wash would move it s-l-o-w-l-y. Oddly, I'd just refilled my bottles and wondered if I'd mixed up the 701 with the EasiSolv 5, so I tried spraying with what I thought was (and was indeed) the 701, and the emulsion came right off. Had to do it on another screen, too. Doesn't make sense. Since I'd only had one beer I know THAT wasn't it.
I can't remember ever having issues reclaiming screens after using Union's process inks before, but that's the only thing that I can point to. Normally, the QX-1 emulsion melts off the screen without much scrubbing.
