I had a call last fall from a guy that was involved in a few things over in the next town. I go see him and he "gives" me a one color job on a maroon shirt and wants 50 pieces for less than 5 dollars done. He dangles that carrot about getting the whole soccer club the next spring and on memorial day we print 1600 shirts for a tournament. On the way out the door he hands me a back pack from his last embroiderer that has his sons number on the back and it is wrong. He wants me to fix it by taking out the numbers and putting in the correct numbers. I tell him I will not take out 7-8k in stitching only to put a hole in it on the last stitch removal.. I tell him to give me the name of the bag and I will replace it and put in the right number. I deliver the 50 shirts and the free bag and don't hear from him until April 10th. I ask him what ever happened to doing the whole soccer club for the spring, and his response is that I would no have to speak to "his partner." I thought being president of the league, and only speaking with him in the past, and with all the promises, he would be the guy to speak with. So for chits and giggles I leave the partner a message on his line. I get a detailed e-mail response on how the "big order" is done, you get the numbers by end of business day on thursday the week before and you have to guarantee delivery by end of day the following thursday before the memorial day weekend. and also we need 50 color shirts printed w/ the same logo. Now me, being the ball buster that I am, send him a quote that he cannot match, but i will also make $1800 on the job. I never get a response, so I figure it was all bull from the start.
FAST FORWARD
I have to pick up my son at college at the end of school year and it is 8+ hours from the house each way. I am leaving early morning on a friday and going to drive back and arrive late saturday night. I check my e-mails before going to bed thursday night and see an e-mail @ 10:45pm from this guy checking to see if I still can guarantee the delivery the next week????WTF? I know my artist does not work on the weekend, I am down for 3 days, I do not have any artwork, more importantly no deposit. Is this guy for real.... I e-mail him back that this is a surprise to me and I have to still see if I can line things up and bump some of my regular customers. I don't friggin sleep now thinking about this crap and wake up pissed. I e-mail him back at 4:50 am stating that I am out for lack of communication on his part. I read my e-mails when I get up to my sons' college and this idiot is begging me to do the job, as I was recommended by so in so. I call him back after calling my artist, AS I STILL DON"T HAVE ANY ARTWORK, or numbers and the earliest I am getting shirts is tuesday night if I had the order in monday morning. I don't hear back from him. What a clown. Would you believe i get a call from someone in the organization on thursday, 2 days before the tournament, requesting some shirts to be banged out for so in so who recommended me.
ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS WHO SENT THESE PEOPLE OVER TO ME TO BUST MY ONIONS?? I HOPE THE GUY THAT PRINTED THE SHIRTS KILLED THEM AND PAYED FOR HIS CHILDS COLLEGE
