Begging again
« on: August 20, 2020, 03:38:05 PM »
Hey folks, I’m swallowing my pride again and I’m going to gently beg. I imagine most of you don’t know, but my city, Cedar Rapids, IA was hit by a derecho last Monday. (Google derecho in Cedar Rapids) Nine days later we still have thousands without power. I’m doing this on my phone because of no phone or internet here. Beyond no power for many, so many have lost their home, clothing, and basic living necessities. We have families living in tents outside their home or apartment. Help is slow in coming. Things like diapers are expensive and even hard to find. It’s sad to see how some are forced to live right now. So, I’m just asking, if you have anything you’d like to send our way, I’d get them to the Red Cross or United way. I can try to help with any freight, to a point. It sucks that I feel the need to do this, but it sucks more for so many families here. (Parts of town look like, or worse than third world countries). If you have anything you’d like to give, texting is the best way to contact me. And even if you don’t, a prayer or good thought can’t hurt. Thanks for reading. Dave-Bimm Ridder.  319.389.3428. Thanks

Thoughts go out to you guys. I watch a farmer on Youtube that got hit, it's crazy how much wind can destroy.

If you all need to come down and use our shop this weekend to get orders out let me know.
I spend too much money on equipment...

After talking with Dave last night I was overcome to realize how devastating this Derecho has been. Also sorry to hear how understated in the news media. It's not just a "Wasn't that something?" event. These people are without cell towers (no 911) and no gas for 90 miles. It goes on.
When someone such as Dave (Bimridder) reaches out for help please know it is not for him. It is for the others. As always, that speaks to his character. Thoughts and prayers are mostly all I can give although much more is needed there. Please support this backbone of our Country.

can  you set up a go fund me and I would imagine few of us would donate. Being overseas I can't ship anything. If go fund me is not an option, how about a PayPal address where we can send some funds?

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Are you talking about Cole the Corn Star? I watch his channel occasionally.

Don't want to speak for Dave but I am sure shirts and socks would be welcome for those who live in tents without power

I finally got phone and internet last night. (I am really bad trying to type using my phone) Right now I think anything could be used. Twelve days later and most people have power back. Yet many don't have a home. On top of that, temperatures are going to be in the low to mid 90s and of course high humidity, for the next 5-7 days.

Yep. Mostly Millennial Farmer... then Cole's pops up. Gotta live vicariously through those who get to operate big machinery every day.

Just saw this...hope you and everyone else in your town is doing alright. We were hit by the same storm in the Chicagoland area, they confirmed a tornado went through my town. I have lived here my whole life and never seen anything like it. Things were being lifted into the sky and tossed away, certain parts of the town looked like Katrina hit. Kudos to you for raising awareness and to everyone else on this forum that gave what they could. Best of luck to your community in rebuidling.

Dave, we want to give! Do you have any 501c3 non-profits that we can give to? We have a fund that we donate from but it has to be a true non-profit.
hope you guys are hanging in there.
