Starting the day off wrong
« on: August 17, 2020, 10:16:30 AM »
I am not complaining really, but does anybody else have a hard time getting stuff done after starting a day with really dumb/bad emails?  I know they shouldn't set me off, but man, dealing with the same questions from the same customers every time they place an order just gets to me after a while.

My main gripe is when you get a quote, then cut the quantities in half, don't bitch about why the the prices went up.  Pricing structure is set to reward you for ordering more.

If you are a contract customer and you send me the proof that you sent your customer, don't ask me to re-proof it.  I will simply send you back the proof you sent me.  I am not re-creating a proof and putting it on our shirt blank.

Another customer is panicking about print details written out on the quote.  I explained to her several times before that once the order is approved and a deposit is paid, the order moves to proofing.  From there they will see where the logos go and in what colors.  I feel like there is a saying that goes a picture is worth a thousand somethings.

Again, I don't mean to complain, but does this happen with anyone else?  When the first 2-3 emails just set everything off on the wrong foot for the day it just zaps my motivation.

We get complaints about the price going up when the order is much lower than the quoted amount all of the time.

We don't print contract but yes I would do the same thing as far as the proof goes.  Why would they expect you to the waste the time unless you would have to change something about the location of the print otherwise they would get the same proof they created back.
It's not a job if you love doing it.

Weekend emails with online store order issues really set the tone for Monday. Rookie mistakes are starting to take a toll on my patience. I am also becoming a firm believer in not working with people I don't jive with. I turned away two decent size orders last week since I had a terrible gut feeling about the people ordering. Our conversations were rather concerning and they both struck me as potential problems down the road. There are too many great companies to work with to struggle trough the difficult ones. The money is not worth my sleep loss and sanity.

I have a couple of contract customers that have needed their hands held for 2 decades; late last year I stopped giving the great service and put the work back on their plates. One of them is retired teacher, which tells me a lot about, oh never mind...

That statement makes you sound like a naive, pollyanna-ish newbie!

Or perhaps that "it" referred to blood pressure or headache pain.

Today is also the first day or digital learning and I've been fielding calls from my really pissed off wife.  We had all summer to prepare for this and aside from a really crappy new interface for the students, nothing has changed.

All the interface does is link to a zoom meeting that they could link from an email.  The system logs you off periodically, and the teacher doesn't notice you've requested access back to the zoom call.  My sister couldn't even log into the system to access her son's class.

It's a recipe for a really crappy day.   Oh well, at least our youngest had fun at day care.  I need to go fishing...but the boat is in the shop(maintenance, every shop is 5-6 weeks out on tune-ups)

We are done holding contractors hands, have been  for a while.

No more quote a job for you, we sent you a contract price sheet do it your self
No more turning your crappy jpegs and thumbnails into printable art for 0$ because you cannot go to your customer with art charges, get it done your self or sourced or forget the order
No more digitizing for you period. Digitizing for contractors has led to more problems than it is ever worth, they expect you to digitize impossible details, impossible text, impossible color gradients and shading. No more you use your own digitizer who also provides sew outs then send to us. Any issues with the file it gets rejected back to you.
No more helping you with your crazy customers that have all kinds of crazy ideas and wishes, get your crap figured out, PO generated then send to us. You want the best tier pricing then your t's better be crossed and i's dotted for that pleasure.

if your state is anything like my state, you haven't had all summer, you haven't had all week! They are STILL trying to scramble and figure out what to do.

Then there's me with a giant bottle of Fukitall saying send everyone back to school.....stop this political  madness and get back to reality....

Yes I`m in the same boat. As a matter of fact for me that can as well be non work related things that screw up the day. I dwell on small things for far too long, I`m  just glad that my dog is always there to cheer me up again.
