Which Rutland series?
« on: May 24, 2013, 01:33:48 PM »
OK, after 16 years of printing wilflex, I am considering changing to Rutland.  Obvious pricing reasons.  BUt I am lost at which series will work for me.  I want something that will compare to Wilflex Epic Standard Plastisol Inks.  Any help appreciated.  Its for auto work, so a wow series off the shelf color system is what I am looking for.  THanks.

Rutland's eco friendly match to the epic is Claria, they have a chino base and mix system that seems nice, here's a video link. I've been using the Rutland Claria series Street Fighter white and really like it, not only the price, but the print, under basing, very nice white.

I’m sorry to hear that you are looking to move away from Wilflex inks after such a long and successful association with that brand.  While Rutland makes good inks, if you’re looking for a line of standard RFU colors I’d recommend that you also take a look at the International Coatings 7600 series inks..  The combination of performance and value from a quality ink manufacturer is hard to beat, as you’ll see from the attached information.

Speaking of International Coatings, I had a rep drop me a sample of a white, Legacy white. NIIIIIIIIIIIIICE, cures at 300, flashes at 270, very very good on the LB even though it's not considered a poly ink, it did very very well. Printed very nice through high mesh counts without modifying, price point wasn't as low as Rut Street Fighter NP, buuuuuuut, you can underbase with it through 230 mesh count and leave a very bright white, highly opaque underbase. From what I hear, IC is stepping it up big time.

Not sure on the EH, but the Claria series came highly recommended by a couple very large print shops up north that use it exclusively. Honestly, we ended up with the Street fighter because we had a credit with a certain supplier and I was low on white and wanted to try it since it's price point is so low for being a high quality white. But, with that in mind, I did, for the first time a month or so ago have a rep from Nazdar that took over our area come through and give me pricing that was very, VERY, aggressive on the wilflex whites. I'm not sure who you have been buying Wilflex from, but if you haven't gotten with Nazdar, connect with your area rep and have them send you some quotes. Trust me, it would be worth it. I won't drop any confidential prices but it was enough from me to say, WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. lol I'll give our rep a shout out, Ginny, very nice, very well informed, and very much earned some business from us that will now go her way.

been buying from Nazdar for 16 years and they are great people, helped me a lot over the years, but wilflex is to proud of their products.  My rep. did get me to try IC Scarlet as compared to Wilflex National red, and its a pretty good match.  BUT, its really runny and I don't think the opacity is as good as Wilflex.  Also, IC standard color range is very small compared to the other companies.  Not to say I wouldn't use it, I just want to make sure I use whats best for my situation in my shop, so I want to try Rutland as its moderately priced and from what I hear is a great product.
