4880...printing but no ink coming out?
« on: May 13, 2013, 12:06:03 PM »
Last Monday I finally ran out of ink and i was told to go for the clear refill carts and bulk black ink from inkjetcarts.us...so i filled the #1 slot only and printed from #1 slot only just to see how it worked before i ran it thru my whole printer, etc...worked great, got me thru the day last monday (i only print positives once a week, on Mondays)...

Today I come in and it had a error 10001c0 which i usually get when the power flickers...no biggie, turn it off and back on, everythings OK.  At this point I still in my accurip only have head 1 photoblack checked to only use that cart to print, nothing else because they were low and it was splatting ink everwhere...  So i print my positive and nothing is on the paper...its blank.  I try it 3 more times.  Blank.  It prints but no ink.  I have turned off head 1 and used head 2 Cyan only and it does print, albeit with lines like a low cartridge would....

...So what happened?  did this new ink clog my lines on head 1? I dont want to put this ink in another slot if its going to clog lines after 1 week.

I have 13 jobs positives to print today and no idea what to do at this point.

Try printing a 12x12 block of solid black, this might help charge the lines.

guess i had a plug plugged in on the cartridge and it was supposed to be open...he recommended i open it and run some nozzle checks....we'll see how that goes now.

It sounds like you did not remove the air vent plug. Then, apparently for that first Monday's prints, there was still enough trapped air inside to provide the proper pressure.
Not enough the following attempt.

Stupid vent plugs, exact same thing happened to my the first time I went bulk carts. Don't understand why they are even there in the first place or at the least document clearly to have them unplugged. Not sure of it was the same vendor but I remember my vendor did not say to pull those plugs.

I deal with Cobra, and they certainly say.

Sometimes, the refiallable carts ship full, mine did, so they would definitely be in there for that.
If they shipped 'em separately, most folks would lose 'em when they did need 'em for transporting or storing a full cart.  ;D

Glad I saw this thread, I just went with bulk carts and was actually wondering if i was supposed to leave
them open. Lord knows I don't read the directions.

What about evaporation?
