Harmless plastisol is like salad dressing, we can get away with uncured stencils because there is no damage to be afraid of, but water-base or solvent ink attacks the raw inside and the screen breaks down.
As long as we don't use cleaning chemicals that may exacerbate the situation.
When Xylene was the cleaner de jour, I saw many more screens become difficult to re-claim.
Heck, some even used xylene to harden a screen on purpose. It almost seems like it shouldn't happen both ways, but some solvents could both break down or react to harden. Go figure.
Now, we have many better choices.
