Template in Photoshop?

This may very well be a stupid question, but I just don't know the answer!
When we open up a file in Illustrator, we open up a saved template with reg marks and space for order info already on it. Is there a way to open that same template or make another one I can use as a "base" in Photoshop?

Not a stupid question at all TCT, as I would like to know that answer as well, I know Dan does some kind cool reggie marks in his photoshop seps just a little big but they work.

I'm not a big Photoshop expert, but couldn't you have a stock file that you just add as a layer?

Thanks Frog, I'll give that a shot.
Seems like back in high school I could use Photoshop with my eyes closed, now I get hung up on the basic things!

When my buddy Ron Weber over at Andy's T's first got me started in Photoshop (v5), he had me make reg marks as brushes.
It was pretty slick as long as I kept my resolutions consistent.
I often wish I remembered how I did it, lol!
Interestingly, I sometimes work between PS and CorelDRAW, and import PS channels into DRAW over a template containing my reg marks, different page for each channel sep. Kind of the opposite of what you're trying to do.

If I am comprehending you right, that is exactly what I am trying to do. In illustrator, I have a template file I always open up. It has reg marks and info sections. I then paste whatever artwork I am going to print onto the template, center it, make adjustments and print. But the "open from template" option is not there in PS. I'm gonna try your idea tomorrow when I get in.
In the meantime, Dan.....? Darryl already gave you a glowing complement, care to help with my brain fart- or problem if that makes it sound less awkward

LOL, found this -

Now I have to reread it and set one up again.
Update: Well it does work, but may have to mess around with settings to get it to a true 1/2 inch.
In the meantime, here is an 11x17 PDF that has a transparent background. Once you have your channels separated, simply copy and paste on each channel for regs to output with the color to film.
