So earlier I was telling one of the customer service girls that my half day would be ruined tomorrow because someone would probably break something. Of coarse I am the only one that knows how to repair the equipment. Wouldn't you know it the exposure unit bulbs fries 10 minutes later. Won't get here until after I was supposed to leave tomorrow. smh. Oh well it's still a long weekend. Remember point the fireworks away from vital limbs and organs!!!

why don't you keep an extra?  I have one on top of mine.  Yeah, they are pricey, but it's cheaper than downtime.

I also keep common pres parts, like choppers, prox switches, air hoses and connectors.  It take a bit of money to have backups, but it's worth it.

I replaced mine early and kept the original. It is not as good as new, but it will work as backup.

Yeah, that $300 isn't a big deal if you have to have jobs out and no working bulb, all of the sudden $300 seems cheap.

Same thing with platens, I bought an extra just in case I fried one, sure enough, 2 days ago I cooked one.  Instead of stripping the rubber and being down a day, I slapped on the new one and got to work on the old one after the job was done.

Really?  300 bucks is a great insurance policy against something like down time...I know we burn about 25-35 screens a day and if we are down for a day that would cost me dearly....have a 300 back up and ready to go in about 10 min is so worth it...

I would take a hard look at your policies and procedures and see where you can make some changes...also 300 bucks is like a buck a day plus you get the product and you know it will MAKE you money...

Well it turned out not to be the bulb but an exhaust fan had shorted and then caused a failure on one of the boards. Will be putting them in tomorrow. Glad to have 2 exposure units or we would have been in major trouble.

well crap, there is a bit of information that you left out.  Also, do they take the same bulb?  If so then there is no reason not to have an extra.

Nope two different bulbs. The smaller one is a 1kw and the tri-lite take a 6kw. Still waiting on the parts to get here today and then it will be day 4 on the phone with the tech all day. I did actually firgure out how to bypass a sensor and lower the power output so we could use it.

I learned a long time ago from an old timer in another industry to try and have two of everything important.  That's why we have two driers instead of one large one.  If something goes down we may not be able to run as fast as we like, but at least we are not totally shut down.  A new bulb on hand is  great insurance.  Spend the $300 if you routinely run short scheduled jobs like most of us do.

Well the saga continues again. Turned out not to be the parts the tech told me. Now I am just having a tech come out and figure out what is wrong after 5 days of no luck on the phone. Pain in my ass!
