Lawson Omega Belt Motor

Where do I get one of these? It is acting up and stopping mid run and it does not sound like it has much life left. It is skippin a beat once in awhile and stopping completely once in awhile. A tap with a trusty tool gets it going again.

or you can take the motor apart and check the brush's give it a little sandpaper shine and put fresh grease on the gears, might get you a few more years.

I checked Grainger and they have like 1000 different motors. I just might have to take it apart in the morning. Of course it happens when we are slammed with orders. It may be heat press curing time!

When mine was squeaking like a chipmunk you'd see the wiring on the back wiggling.  I took that off and cleaned the contacts and I think there's a bearing in there too, weird way to apply power to a motor but it hushed it up and ran smoother after that.

just replaced mine about a year ago.  straight from lawson.  may have payed a bit more but worth not having to look for one myself.   main thing is that it is a variable speed motor so you can adjust the belt speed.

oh a do  not take it apart think you will be able to do anything to it.  we did after we installed the new one and now we have a great magnet.  nothing inside is servicable on our end on this motor

I took it off and pulled it apart. Does anyone know if this bearing on the bottom is supposed to be sheared off on the bottom? I really think it is the motor itself because everything spins freely.

i should have changed my post to read nothing in my unit had any serviceable parts.    This what I had been told by lawson and it was true for me when I opened it up.  but good luck with you motor.

Looks like too clean of a cut to be damage.

Are the brushes serviceable? Your issues sounds like brushes.

I've replaced dryer motors with generic DC motors with no issues.
Just gotta match the specs, typically 1/8hp, 90VDC. Probably a KB controller.

Lawson's sez there parts can be bought off just about any shelf, and you sir could be very right, cost to repair might out weigh the cost to replace with new.

Use to have the same Dryer -Baldor made the motor.  the brushes can be replaced.  I believe the last time i replaced the motor we just bought one off the self from Grainger.

I pulled the brushes out and they are in bad shape. Problem is I have been all over town and everyones first comment is " I doubt we have anything that small"

McMaster Carr, some Lowes, hobby shop, digitkey on line, marine electronics store, Grainger or a starter/armature repair shop.

Grainger and a couple local electrical supply shops were zero help. I may have to gamble and order online and hope I order the right thing.
