Fraken-Dryer

Has anyone heard of, or even better actually personally had a "Fraken-Dryer"?  What I am talking about would be a complete gas dryer from one company and an additional heating section from another one.
Here is my situation:

 We have a anatol gas dryer now but need more output from it. I have no desire to purchase anything from anatol again. It seems a shame to buy a whole new dryer with 2 heating sections when all we really need is just 1 more heating section added to our current one. I know they won't match up perfectly, but I am rather handy, and have some close friends that this would be right up their alley. Seems like all you would need to make sure is that the belt will travel level and the inside height is at least the same size as the original.  Some welding of the inner steal together, insulation, and a outer shell you would think it would be good to go. Some new paint would clean it up nice. As long as the heating chambers are operating independently, you would think it would work.

Anybody? I am sure my wife would say I am just "looking for a project".

...heres a project I took on and created a coupla years ago. Two conveyors stacked together, the bottom one ran the shirts back to the press operator (me).

...this doesnt really apply to what you are trying to do, other than the fact I called mine "FrankenDryer", too. Yours sounds much more involved, actually. My thoughts are that you may wanna have the IR units first, so the electrical systems dont get too hot. Most hybrid dryers have the IR's first, and refer to it as "bump" panels, which indicates a quick rise to temp with the IR's, then a stable heat "held" by the gas portion.

...BUT, dont let the label of "crazy" stop ya from a crazy project. Im sure way back when, an idea such as a flash unit was someones "crazy idea" too.

I think that dryer set up is pretty sweet, doesn't M&R have a dryer does that? Boomerang or something?

What I was talking about for mine though was with both units being gas dryers.

I don't see where it'd be a problem to just plonk another gas dryer behind your current, use one dryers drive side and run a long belt through both of them.  Really, it should just cost you the second dryer + belt. 

I'm not sure this would be any more/less efficient than just putting a second dryer in along side (rather than in line with) the first and loading onto both.  Space may be a concern there however.

I am 100% sold on modular gas dryers with the "drone" sections or whatever they are called, great concept.  You just don't want to purchase the sections from Anatol?  That's understandable.

First off Mr. Tees, I have to say I watched the video again(this time paying full attention) and, that is SUPER sweet! The only downside is you just gave yourself another jor- stacking the shirts

I should clarify, when you buy a gas dryer you can usually buy it in "parts" to customize your needs.- Infeed, Outfeed, Burner section, Recirculation section, Drone section, ect.
All I want to do is buy another burner section from another company and rig it to fit in conjunction with my current dryer(yes I would need an addition to the belt). This would give me 2 burner sections, which would let me run the belt faster.

...one thing you are gonna wanna think about here is resale value. My frankenDryer was made from two of the exact same dryers (two Vastex EC1's, and some additional chambers and conveyor extensions). When I got my Boomerang, I posted my whole frankendryer on DS for several months, with NO hits. Once I took it all apart and posted it as two dryers and some added parts, it all sold within two weeks.
   The point here is that you will have a very difficult time reselling something that is custom-built (future buyers will say"hobbled together"), especially with parts from different maufacturers. And you will have quite a time selling a single heat chamber as well, most people want equipment ready-to go, and those that want what you have will not be willing to pay fairly, knowing that it is an otherwise diffiult sell.
   All this goes witout mentioning the extra work involved here, aside from physically making them one unit. You still have to deal with additional electrical, gas and exhaust lines.

....needless to say, I am ALL about fun and crazy projects, but not so much at the cost of a debilitating hit on the ol' pocketbook. My recommendation, in this case, would be to sell the current dryer as is, and flip that cash toward an upgraded piece of equipment. The used market is still somewhat flooded, and a good deal can be found for the determined hunter!

TCT your idea is solid and has been done with sucess, for many years! Belt height, Dryer widths, ect. need to match
as close as possible.you can even mix dryer types,to fit your needs.

That was my original thought,  but then I realized I was going to try to sell a used anatol Mariah dryer. I would need more than the $25 that would bring in:P

I'm sure there is someone out there that doesn't know that dryer and it's magnificent history, you could get lucky and sell that thing.

Oh dear lord...that just settled in....an Anatol gas dryer.  Presuming their approach on the dryers is similar to the rest of what they make, you must have, like, gnarly stomach ulcers and a nervous condition by now.

No those set in about 2 years after getting the dryer.
By this point I have self certified myself as a anatol tech. Not sure if I like the job though, plus it's been at least two months about the time they change employees anyway.....
