just as an FYI, you can connect and external monitor and a mouse to the system to get back up and running. 'hopefully you don't have to, but it is a good piece of info to have!

Not on the Hitachi PLC's Pierre.

Aren't yous guyses presses Linux based? Couldn't you just throw an AMD in there and call it good?

just wondering, is it legal to take money from his check?  Not that destruction of property is legal either...better than the girl that quit(or was fired) and tossed a can of spray tack into a gas dryer.

they are linux based, but I don't know if the operating system is compiled for that particular board or is left with all the components on it. My guess is, they customized it for the LEX motherboard as the CF card with the OS is marked which revision of the press it works with.

Rodney told me that the controller or the computer head part of the press is the same on all the presses. The software is on all of them to run each press e-type, S-type and 3000. The tech just has to unlock it or activate it. The multiprint program is also on all of them. He also told me the drive motor for the squeegee is the same on all the presses. I asked that because I wanted to run a larger squeegee and wanted to make sure it would not be too much for the motor. Of course this is all depending on the year of the press and what press was in the software loaded at the time. I know my press software was updated.

Yes, it was all arranged through payroll. Essentially, he was billed for the portion not covered by insurance, around $1500, and it was deducted until paid. I think it was $100 per week. He did tattooing all night long, so he didn't hurt too much for money. He knew he did wrong, and was very willing to make amends, and we didn't really want to fire him, as we knew him socially long before we even had a shop. It worked out, one learns to forgive and move on.

can you get me some more info on it? I'd like to see if it would be possible to install a different motherboard and still keep everything going.

Pierre, could you still technically see the display just very dimly?

I'm sure you are well versed enough to know most times when the inverter is out you can still technically see the display... just EXTREMELY faintly and only when the light reflects just right (obviously there is NO backlight).

this was fixed and explained in another thread. It was the LCD, nothing wring with the inverter. Under the circumstances it might be hard to see the faint image if it was the inverter. LCD is mounted behind the touchscreen and recessed back. 'not sure there would be enough light to see the unlit image, but it's hard to tell.
