The Flu
« on: January 31, 2013, 01:20:35 AM »
Who here has it?

Just to let you know it sucks. We got back from ISS / Long Beach and the next day, BAM!!!

Been sick since. Haven't missed a day of work but it is horrible. First I had the Grand Canyon in my throat with no water at all and deep cracks. Then my ears were so clogged I couldn't hear my dog bark at me or my wife yell at me  ;)

And the whole time I have been a human mucus production facility working three shifts. Ugh. I just hope this finds all of y'all doing well and staying busy. And one more day till Friday so have a good rest of the week and an amazing weekend!

Last 3 weeks were a rotating staff flu wheel of misery.

All hands in finally this week. Damm, seem to be getting some projects done.

The wife and the son had it last week and the week before.  My mom had it for 3 weeks, it's a nasty bug for sure.

I'm into my third week with something.. flu or what but raspy couch and headaches and sinus stuff mixed with fevers and night sweats.

It was so bad the other weekend I missed the Long Beach show. Was sitting up Friday night in sweatpants and shirt, under a blanket with the heat on at 80 and I was still shivering. Temp was 103.5 at 10pm..

My younger son had a 102-103 fever for 7 days. Of course, that was between Christmas and New Year.
It was not a fun holiday time :(

Can I assume that none of you who caught this bug had gotten shots? It is, and has been a must-do for us for more than twenty years.
I know that my presentlly-suffering son certainly will next year!

Though sometimes, they guess wrong and the serum formulation misses the mark as to which strains will visit, this years was a winner.

I never got a flu shot till I had children. Now i get them not for me but for them, it would not be fair for me to give them the flu if I happen to get it, I am an adult they are children and the flu tends to lead to more dangerous infections for the young and the old.

I got the shot months ago and I just got sick to days ago. Went to the doctor to get that terrible flu test done just to find out that it wasnt the flu just a nasty virus cold. So last night I fought a 103 fever all night and got up this morning feeling about 80% with no fever.

I got the shot a couple of weeks ago. They say it takes about 3 for the protection from the vaccine to kick in, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Had a cold back in November that hung on for about 3 weeks, but no fever. Feel sorry for you guys who've caught it. Hope I've dodged it.

I got the shot in October and caught it in Canada in January. Maybe a different strain up there, eh?

so far have avoided it,,,,,knock, knock

Didn't get the flu shot....but constantly washing hands and avoiding crowds....staying home a lot.

I heard.....even with the flu shot you can catch it a 2nd time......i can't freakin imagine having to go through it twice.

I think it's the same strain running rampant up here (Canada). I'd bet they missed their guess when they picked the strains for this years flu shots. I know there is also a nasty cold virus and lots of Norwalk virus going around. I'm just getting over that one myself....

i know the flu and the cold are hitting people for 3-4 weeks at a time, so it sounds like what you guys are getting. Also the contagion rate seems to be really high as almost everybody is getting hit to some extent.

Down here, the word is that the shots are on target and recommended even this late. Those getting the flu have not had shots.
Have you heard that in the great white North, that the shots were ineffective?
