some recent work + seps questions
« on: June 17, 2011, 01:57:36 PM »
here are 2 designs I did today, I hardly ever post my work because it's not as good as most you guys, but I'm slowly getting in my groove. The wrestling camp is 2 color discharge on G2000, maybe add another red too it., the other one I am a little stuck on. Do you guys think I should do 2 grays, light blue and a highlite white or should I do just one gray? I am going to sep this myself and send it to Dan too. I'm not finished with it yet, I don't like the band listing, I may change the vertical kerning a bit. Any suggestions welcome as always.

How 'bout:

Underbase Ligher Gray/a little bit on the Blue end perhaps
Darker Gray
Blue
Highlight White

?

And yeah, you need those bands/dates to pop out a lot more.

'not sure what you are complaining about, it looks good!

As far as the camaro, some choices will depend on the number and the type of shirt and the customer. Underbase gray with white highlight and a blue should work. If the customer is picky, you could add another gray to make it a little nicer.

The gray underbase has to be made with opaque inks rather than the mixing system (and if going on 50/50 or similar) it has to be low bleed. I realized that at the last min.
Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

thanks guys, I appreciate it -you know how it is, I am my biggest critic, never happy, only satisfied. It's printing 100% cotton first run is 500 pieces. I'm still working on the text Zoo,  but my eyes started bugging out. I usually close it out for a day then open it a few days later and make some changes. . .I'll put the the finished product up each when we run them.  . .man, I could go for a molson. .

Put a hard black outline on the 'Molson, etc'  and the 'Chevy, etc' text.
It's blending with the background too much, needs to be isolated a bit more, as they are the main text to read ( from a distance ).
If it's part of the car graphic, rebuild the logo in vector, and add the outline.
Not a crit, just friendly advice.

Medium grey, white, and a process blue color for simplicity ( 3 ) and spend a bit of extra time tweaking the seps would work great.
Or get 2 whites and add another, lighter grey ( 5 ), would look nice too.
Or I guess you could go insane with shades, but simpler is better on press methinks.

Looks good.
Cheers.

yeah, dammit, good idea . .but, order is done and delivered. I have pics but my camera sucks so I have to take them again. I did with a light gray base, light blue and highlite white. I'm super happy with how they turned out, the art could have been better now that I look at it -but for the time frame I had - 3 days to turn the whole job from art to finished, 500 pieces- I am really happy. Probably one of the best sep jobs I ever did, I'm not an artist and I'm not a fantastic printer -so this type of accomplishment is HUGE for us. I have to get pics up, I'm actually proud of this one, I did it all myself start to finish. I was going to send it to Dan but it really wasn't that hard, it's the highlites that tend to scare me a bit. But I freakin nailed it. I have more jobs coming up that I'll post up and get yous' guys' input. Thanks again

Wouldn't mind seeing actual printed garments. BTW how are going planning to go about the allover print?

I have a set up for one of my manual presses. a few large screens we used to use for signage, matsui discharge red and white, maybe a black screen to get some better shadows. That one will be coming up in a week or so. hopefully it turns out -well, it has to, I don't have a choice haha. I paint myself into a corner all the time with things like this. Time to figure it out.
 Thanks fellas

I would maybe print some black as well as the 2 grays, blue and highlight white... maybe, but it looks pretty good so far...
