Professional advice needed

Just did a small run for a new local gymnastics place that just opened.  I am trying to bend over backwards to help them out knowing that they will expand weekly.  Here is where I need some advice from the professional screenprinters on the board,  I printed 12 soffee cap tees for the female trainers for a meet this past weekend.  Simple enough the name of the gym ((4 letters long)).  I just got that monday morning call that makes everyones week,  the second letter is crooked on all of the girls.  Now I explained to the woman that it could not be crooked as it was printed on a film and transferred to a positive (screen) and then  printed one color to a shirt.  Now it gets interesting, customer says it is all straight before it is put on, but after the girls have it on the second letter is crooked.  Now I try to explain a little about genetics and that each women has different contours in the chest area and that no women are the same.  Customer tells me the same letter is crooked on all her girls even if they are flat chested.  How would one go about correcting this problem for the future.  HAPPY MONDAY.

my first reaction is usually the same as yours, but I hold back and tell them that if there is an issue, we will take care of it! Then we request the proof (in form of returned garment or pictures or anything else that will show you what's going on) and base our decision on that.

Generally, good will is considered to be a lot more valuable than the cost of reprinting the garments and many ppl will just reprint to keep the customer happy.

get one of the samples back and check it out for your self. There might be a lesson in it for all of us!

Get a photo and have them explain what the issue is. Sometimes the client is just really bad at explaining themselves. I had a client like this and they would question everything. It was a pain but many times it was just the way they looked at things. (pain in the ass). Keep in mind with these major pain clients make sure you come off as on their team. You don't want to make this a battle. Let them know you want to work together to figure out that happened. Always give them a way out, with out looking crazy. Something like well the font in your logo does look like the second letter it crooked. I didn't notice it on the art but your right on the shirts when worn it looks crooked. It looks fine when the shirts are flat but crooked when worn. Your right. This has happened with other customers logo. Then tell them they have 2 options.  We could change or manipulate your logo on the next run to make it look less crooked when worn or leave it as it is since you really don't want to mess with the integrity of the logo.

I have done this and the customer always just leaves it. They just want to know its not their fault.

I just did some real thin cotton v necks and they were shaped for fit women lol when they put them on they stretched them and made the letters look crooked,  I suggested larger shirts but ended up reprinting several on a thicker shirt for the bigger girls. Everyone is happy Anything can happen grab a shirt and check it out.

I agree I would get a couple back to look at them.   I had some shirts that looked fine when flat and ran in the regular location for left chest but once worn it seemed to shift the end too far to the armpit area.  So we had to compensate and almost move it so it started in the center.   It looked odd but once actually worn it looked fine.  There really wasn't any practical explanation but we had to adjust to make it work.  Main thing is to show you are making a reasonable effort on their behalf.

Ask them to assemble the ladies, hand out shirts in the appropriate sizes, then personally place a piece of tape in the correct print spot on each left sweater potato, lift 'em up, move 'em around a bit, maybe even squeeze and release just to make sure the image always falls back into place.

That said, we're all thinking about looking at some primo boobage in this case. Who's to say that these shirts aren't for some old church biddies with real saggers that hang like spanish moss and the issue of placement has nothing to do with left-of-center but distance between the neckline and the navel???

We have booby issues regularly. We get the women to come in and try sizes as we have an extensive showroom. We also discourse on this issue at length before printing.

Seems to fix the problem beforehand, but takes effort. We have 2 well endowed girls and one avg., so we can illustrate.

Actually what a great job. Talking boobies with women.

Okay, this thread has reminded me of something that just crossed my mind this weekend.
Does anyone else out there think it's funny that that the entertainment industry has two award shows at seemingly cross purposes?

I had this same problem printing left chest on wife beaters and all these women all had large breast and would stretch the hell of the shirt ( one reason they worn a size to small) so I told them lets put the print in the middle, still stretch the shirt but the print was in the correct place.  Sometimes you really hate to give a pain in the butt customer that much power over you, then its a fair chance that they might do it everytime you print for them.
