Lots Of Art, Sell, Trade, Give it away
« on: January 08, 2013, 11:23:11 AM »
File sharing is an awful thing.. not quite as bad as somethings but worse than others... Seems like Frog and the likes are promoting it here.. and I like frog, secret admirer of DTD.. try to keep it social and I have art, almost all vectored.. Late 80s to 2004 Dynamic Graphics, Liquid Library, Action Art Club.. all freelancers gotta have and then of course everyonce in awhile I get a burst of DTD enthusiasm and draw something... Try not to if I don't have to.. So when you can find the construction guy running a cement leveler stop by and I will send it to you.. Of course I had to  build it from a janitor running a floor buffer but I got it..  Everyonce in a while I do need something off the wall so I will not be afraid to ask back...

First off, let's once again spell out the rules on this section as stated on the forum itself;

Post your (free) art request here. Copyrights must be owned by the person giving or trading. No clip art (in whole or in part) can be traded, loaned or given to another person. Access is limited to verified members. If you can see this, you are verified!

Now, besides being a great way to build camaraderie, and feel a certain exclusivity, the more crass out there could also use this as promotional subterfuge, or a sales gimmick (not unlike the guy hanging at the moto races back in the '70's with his samples of bennies or weed. You remember him don't you?)  8)

At any rate, this is not in any way "file sharing" in the Napster sense of the word, which seems to be the new definition. For that, folks need to visit another forum.
And David, thanks for your offer to share, just make sure to follow the rules and only share art that you have the right(s) to.  ;D

Two things.. I am not and never have been one to take a design off of say, ActionArt, because I have been a member since hector was a pup and pay my monthly dues.. I do recommend them to a lot of newbies on the "Other Board" but never give anythng away or file share per se.. I have taken a fair amount of clip art that I have bought from here or there and changed it so much that I start to feel that it is really mine, thin line there I know, but I am 70 years old.. have couple of health issues and a few years in prison might not be so bad... I am not all that good looking and hopefully at 70 not that desirable to members, gang or otherwise of the same sex.  When it gets to place like Dynamic Graphics who have sold out to people that have sold out to more people that have sold out and I paid 700-1000.00 annually for the right to down load at will I might lend someone something from there if they promise not to rat me out..  I may even go so far as to help the likes of DTD if he asked me nice.. but be assured frog I will not trash your forum and turn it into something bad... after all I am just one starving artist and one foot off the edge

I have few worries that you will "trash" the place. Understand that my post, though a reply to you, was directed at our whole audience. Never hurts to remind folks of the deal.

btw, Looking at my Historic Motorcycles calender, at a Triumph ad from the '50's showing a young couple two up on a Tiger Cub next to their single friend on one of the twins.

Next month, it's a Matchless Clubman
