R Applitape Vs. R Pallet tape
« on: January 25, 2013, 11:07:30 AM »
Could R-Tape Applitape be used for covering screen printing pallets.

I still have plenty od Pallet tape, but I was wandering last night when I was removing the old pallet tape and applying the new one. Later I went to compare them, and they look pretty much identical. People that do vinyl and printing could stock only one and I believe that I can get Applitape a bit cheaper for the same size (Actually, quite bit cheaper)

Thanks

yup. we use some cheap knock off R-tape. It comes off easier and is way cheaper. I can get you the brand, it's from fellors.

I have used both application tape, and something sold as pallet tape. I'm pretty damn sure that no one is manufacturing a special tape as much as merely re-purposing an existing product.

Heard directly from an R Tape rep a long time ago their application tape is rebranded for screen suppliers as Palette tape, as for why being double the cost thats on the suppliers.

I guess I'm not buying the pallet tape any more :)   ......

..... but it will take me years to use up this one on manual machine. (Unless I get the automatic one)

We've used nothing but regular Applitape here for years, never had a problem.

Those suppliers that are jacking up the price need to be called out publically.  Anybody have a problem with that or is there a better way to handle it?

Transfer Rite ultra is still my favorite.  R tape, Conform, and Bron all sucked it as far as I can tell.  The two former could be rebranded latter...

The big think that irks me with a lot of the tape, rebranded or not, is that you can't draw a friggin line on it with a ballpoint pen without breaking the liner and making it a pain to pull up.

I've always used felt or other soft type tip pens.

I do if they're clean, but they don't play well with tacky/linty platens.   >:(

Whew, Frog... thank goodness that isn't a Newman product.  You get crucified for suggesting something like that about one of their "products". ;)

I'm with Alan... Call 'em out!

We quickly learned they were the same thing and never bought "pallet tape" again.

Newman has great stuff, but I also think a lot of it is overpriced. The roller frames aren't because you can literally print a billion shirts with one frame and it will still work the same on the second billion, but the other stuff is not as easy to pay for.

Absolutely, I don't think I'd have any other frames in my shop, unless someone came out with a game changer.

But repurposing things and putting a few thousand percent markup on retail of that item it is a bit much.

I checked TDS for the one American Biltrite sells as pallet tape,  the Transferrite PM12 and it matches their sign product Transferrite 6582.
How are they priced?
