Pop is simpler but you have to be much more careful with deleting and backing up because there's no safety net on the remote server side. And web access to your accounts is invaluable.

Update.
Mozback failed, but I was able to find the old profile folder, put it on a flash drive, and copy it to the new machine's new profile, overwriting the files.
In the end, manually was the way Gilly!

Now, getting that old machine online is proving to be a pain. I ordered the Rosewill RNX-N180UBE adapter you suggested, but they sent a RNX-N180UB No"E" and no antenna!
At any rate, they are refunding my $ and told me to keep it. I tried it, and it finds my network, but at only 50%. Is that low enough to not let me in?
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

You know what they say... if you want something done right...

50% should be fine... hell any percent should technically work... just gets shaky as the level goes down and the speed isn't as good.

Well, in that case, I have other problems.
Pretty soon, the cable is going to give us a new router (built into the whole house DVR) so maybe when that gets hooked up, they can help me with settings or whatever is not letting it hook up.
