Print on vest with reflective stripe already
« on: January 03, 2013, 04:16:51 PM »
I have customer that want black on safety yellow vest with reflective stripes. Is OK to send through dryer? How about flashing them any problems. Running Mini Sprint and older Omniflash unit Infared.
Do you do nylabond to help lower the cure time and temp?

Thanks,
Shane

This has come up before. Some say they have no problem.
I had a slight pucker, and now, use a "mask" cut out of cardboard to cover the reflective tape still exposed when the vest is folded a bit. Slows down production though.

The addition of Nylobond or Flash Additive and lower temps could only help
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

We print hundreds of vests a week, and don't change a thing. Gas dryer, same speed, same temp, no additives. That being said, probably 99% of them are mesh vests. There have been some chepo vests over the years that have shriveled up by the time they exit the dryer but they have not been mesh and just felt cheep. What is the brand of the ones you are going to use? Another thought is you can always call the manufacturer and see what their flash point is.

If the customer only wants black on them there shouldn't be a need for a flash... That only seems to screw things up!

Don't usually have any issues but usually lower the temp a little cause we like to run our dryer HOT!  Don't like prints washing off.
