Did anyone get this warning?
« on: December 26, 2012, 09:35:10 AM »
Every once in a while I go to check out ever-popular T-Shirt forums.

I got this message when I tried to go there. Anyone else got the same thing?

I received that warning a few days ago when I was going to a site I use for checking IP addresses.

1. I also ran the address through Norton and they thought it was fine
2. The warning was gone the next day.

I seem to remember that when I clicked the Learn More tab, it was explained that this information was user generated, so, who knows the accuracy?
I don't get the warning any more, so I can't really verify this.

I would let the moderator know about it. We would certainly want to know if something like it was going on!

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

The explanation did mention something about third party entities being the possible cause, so I'm betting that some filter didn't like some code in one of the many ads that run there.

I think it is more likely that somebody posted some link or malicious code into the post. . .

But around the same time, I received the Chrome warning on a completely different site, also only for a short time.

Yup. I just tried it from my Android phone. I was really surprised to get the same warning on a mobile device, but there it is.

Keep in mind that this is only an issue with Chrome. Firefox and IE don't have a similar warning. At any rate, I did drop Rodney a line.

Not a fan of Chrome but it could be that only chrome is detecting a real issue.

Or it could be a false positive.

My mobile phone IS an Android device which of course is also a Google undertaking, but the browser I use isn't Chrome... at least it isnt connected in any obvious way. I use Opera Mobile, and I definitely get the same warning. I use and am posting on a Samsung Galaxy S3

Now that I think about it, I believe Opera does connect as a sort of "proxy"...rendering pages as a third party somehow. But IE or Firefox don't COMPLETELY escape intersecting the world of Google, do they?

I don't really know what I'm talking about--internet wise, and besides, I rarely post over there anymore. (Lots of awfully pedestrian stuff to sort through to get to the nuggets which are strewn about.)
