What could I be hitting while posting (or other things as well), to sometimes jump to a screen like this?

that is the inspect element screen (right click on the element and it will be on the bottom of the menu that pops up) . . . did not see a shortcut in the tools menu for it. You'll have to dig a little deeper. CTRL+U and SHFT+CTRL+I will give you similar results, but not the same.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Yes, that is "inspect element" and it is useless to me also, at least at this point in my computer education. If I recall correctly, you have a 7 machine. You might Google "inspect element hotkeys" or shortcuts and see what pops up. (quotes optional). F12 will occasionally pop it up on my workstation.
