Emulsion for discharge and WB printing that rocks!!!!
« on: December 19, 2012, 08:04:35 PM »
so like many here we've gone through almost every single, litterally, brand of emulsions that are "supposed" to be specific for discharge printing. we've gone through the same issues everyone else has gone through. we had it narrowed down to ulano 925wr, but still had to post expose and use spray hardner to have a rock solid screen for long runs. well, sonny from xenon talked me into trying one of their emulsions and i have to give credit where credit is due, this stuff is friggin awesome. for the first time, we have an emulsion for discharge printing that we just have to expose, wash out, let dry, do our block out tape and go. Any other emulsion, even the 925 had to go through a time staking regiment to ensure a "no break down" in production. this stuff holds awesome detail and even on a long run we did today with double strokes and heavy pressure, it stayed rock solid. if anyone is contimplating a switch, get with sonny and give this stuff a try. i'ts xenon, nova with diazo. thanks for challenging me with this one sonny, it's pretty awesome stuff man!!!

You are quite welcome.  We have a customer in Woodstock that uses it so I knew it would work before I told you about it.  Merry Christmas

Kills it for me. My CCI is $44 zero probs great reclaim and they have decreased exp time by 30%.
I would never pay that much for any emulsion

Price isn't an issue for me when it's problem free, hence, no back up screens needed, no waisted emulsion from broke down screens, reclaims awesome!!

Understood but thats a $480 month increase for a product that is no better than what I use. Rather spend that money elsewhere.
If it ain't broken for you thats fine too.

Cannot beat this one. I have tested them all and hands down this one out last every one that we have tried.

I tried using CCI and just could not get good results with it. Even had the lab guy out and after he could not figure it out I have not heard back from them. It would hold up on press but it had pinholes galore. I know a few other shops that experience the same thing. They tape up every sq inch of the screen. I can coat two screens at the same time and out of the same batch that were prepped, and the Murikami is pinhole free but not the CCI. They gave up. Theirs is the only one that does that.

Screenprintguy you have to think big even when you are small. Bad habits are hard to break once they are the norm. This goes for everything in the shop. From the front office to back of the shop. Establish good procedures now before you grow and it will make growing that much easier.

Wow that's a lot of price difference from the CCI.  I just got a bunch of CCI WR25 or I'd give Sonny a shot, because I'm always looking for better emulsion.  I just tried out Xenon's Mustang White and I think I like it. It saved a job actually, that wasn't going to happen without it. (Long story...)

But I LOVE my WR25 and rarely get a pinhole, not to mention it is quite economical.  I use it for everything currently, plastisol or waterbased.

Tony, quick question, do you have to use a hardener?  With Nova you do not.  So therefore no extra cost in materials, labor or time.

Just asking.  Merry Christmas

Michael, how many coats do you use?  Sharp edge or round?  Flip or turn?
