We would pretty much say "screw the vectors" and just go to Photoshop, much easier, once you have the skills of course. This is why we have more than one tool in our toolboxes, yes?

Yeah, I got one like this and recreated it in a clean vector only to learn that the customer had wanted it to reproduce in the rough style it had been created in.
