I love it when the customer thinks they are right!
« on: November 01, 2012, 08:43:25 PM »
Had a customer that was told by a few shops that you cannot discharge NL Tri Blends. He now knows differently. White on 50% poly, 25% cotton, 25% Rayon. Whats that saying about the customer is always right?.....lol ;D

Was that discharge base and then another layer (screen) of white on top?

WOW.  The reason I asked, was because it looked thick. Must be a shadow of some sort.

Very bright.

What discharge are you using?  We tried to discharge some NL Tri's (Indigo) and it just looked like a one hit white.  Can you post some better pictures of that?  Possibly closer to the print?  Very interesting.

I will have to see if we have a sample. That was a pic I snapped real quick walking by the dryer. It was not as smooth as a 100% cotton right out of the dryer. After the wash though it is just as nice. My phone made it look thick. it is nowhere near what that looks like. We ran some indigo a couple of weeks ago. Those did not work as well as the red. It was a distressed print so it looked fine.

So the print in the red is supposed to be a distressed print?  What brand of discharge ink are you using?

Sort of reinforces about what I've been saying that customers/manufacturers/distributors don't always know our process and it's (lack of) limitations. This is a common myth that has been widely distributed. I've been successsfully discharging cotton/poly blend fabrics for years. No it does not work across the board but you would be suprised how often it does. Also a DC UB works almost universally.

ok ..it worked. but consistancy will not be there. i like the safety and consistancy of a discharge ub and overprint white.

This red one was not distressed. The ink is CCI D-White. We have been using it for awhile with really good results on all types of stuff.

Rstefanick on this color is was very consistant. Will it be consistant across all the color ways? No. Thats why you test it before you offer it as you know. We have a pretty good idea of what it will and will not work on so we really dont worry about that safety of putting a plastisol white over the top. After all that defeats the purpose of why we were using the white to begin with.

Here is another myth killer. D-White on Vintage Royal. We were playing around after a job and I threw a couple of these in the mix. Its all about testing and seeing what will work to get good results.
