3000 and ink mistake
« on: October 19, 2012, 12:41:32 PM »
I bought an epson 3000 last year and found the print head was plugged. So i order a new head from Ink Jet Dr. and I completely gut the printer of anything having to do with the other colors. Well I get it back together plugin my Black Max cartridge and put some regular inkjet film in and was deeply disappointed the print quality was light to say the least. disgusted i put it on the shelf and forgot about it until this week my epson r1800 had an issue with the red refillable cart i tried a different one still could not get the red light to go off reset chips whole nine yards. So I get the 3000 back out and run a head clean cycle pop in some waterproof film and and damn what a nice positive. I guess the Black Max ink doesn't work on reg. film. I am so happy the 3000 saved the day. What type ink works on reg . ink jet film.

Dye based (older Epsons) works on regular and waterproof films.

Pigment based (newer Epsons) only works on waterproof.

Great old workhorses. With the dye ink they can sit for years and a cleaning cycle usually gets them up and running again. Not to mention you can get 100% opaque films from them without a RIP.

just switch to WP film heck fire the cost of a 17" x 100 foot roll of the stuff is $66.00 from inkjetfilm.net and shipping is free.
that is a cost of 47 cents per square footor 66 cents for a 17 x 12 in sheet off roll and you get great results .

yeah, but the 3000 has no cutter and won't line films up well from a roll.

I bought a 400 sheet pack of 13x19 water proof film from an ebay store for 230.00 , the same stuff everyother screen supply sells.  One heck of a great deal!

Yeah, I was going to ban him until I saw that in the "How did you hear about us" thread, he said that we were like a dream. LOL!
