CCI discharge activator
« on: October 23, 2012, 10:47:43 PM »
What makes the CCI discharge activator an enviro line product? Main ingredient is Zinc Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate which I thought is not really that eco friendly.
Maybe someone here can enlighten me.

I was under the impression it was the same as all the other ZFS out there, I didn't buy our activator through them, use their base and white though.

I don't see why their would be other ingredients in it..

I would bet its not that its 100% environmentally friendly but its a better alternative to other products that do the same thing. When printed and cured the ZFS is no longer part of the final product. I used to be part owner of a company that installed an Environmentally Friendly Product. The product itself was not very Environmentally Friendly but the performance of the product made it more Environmentally Friendly then its competitor. It's really the way you look at it. I am sure the rules for being Environmentally Friendly is very easy to meet. Kind of like the Organic fabrics only needing something like 5% organic material.

Let's put it this way........I wouldn't eat it! The whole "green" thing is just silly. Anyone can pretty much make that claim without having any responsibility to back it up. There are no rules for our industry, and if anyone wants to disagree, those that might exist are so full of holes it's ridiculous. An interesting note....the "NF" discharge inks are no more "environmently friendly" and don't perform as well which is why they sort of fell off the radar.

I totally agree, just because it's NF does not mean it's less harmful. Just checked the Magna Color activator we have in our shop, and it's full of health warnings even though it's NF.
Anyway so how are the CCI discharge products performing? In the end I might as well settle for Matsui discharge as I'm right at the source here in Japan.

I would definitely go the with the Matsui products since you are where you are and they have a great product line. I have been getting flooded with p-mails on all this and unfortunately can't respond individually. I know everyone probably doesn't want to wait until April but I am preparing an extensive and exhaustive article on all things waterbase. It will not be product specific however it should hopefully steer you into making your own decisions. And now it looks to be a two part installment!
