Forgot to mention that Union Tru-tones are SWOP compliant, most other brands are not. In my opinion they yield the "truest" results.

Homer post pics, Ifind the hardest thing for me in printing cymk is burning that dam yellow screen I always end up doing two screens, but I have found that burning yellow mesh hold more detail and yields a better exposure.

got the seps back last night for the first order, they decided to go sim on it -but the second one is an actual pic of a person, so i really think 4cp is the only way for me to pull this off. . . .on purple shirts too, black would be better I think but not my call. .

I still don't see how this other one is going to work with the seps I got but who the hell am I to judge. . .films are printing right now. . . .

I think I'll leave the inks alone that I have, worse case I'll snag some XXX and roll with those.

Always better to use yellow, if not orange for those fine halftones. White mesh lets the light scatter and overexpose your dots, yellow filters out the blue in the light so you get less of that. I even remember reading of some folks using red mesh...

Undyed Clear or white mesh should not be used for halftone printing, well, fine halftones at least.  The list of colors and their ability to hold detail goes as follows:

White-low detail, bold block prints
Yellow-good detail
Orange-Fine detail
Red-Finest detail, for example, baloon printing
Black- Highest resolution possible

I've never seen red or black mesh.  Has anyone else?  We had some very high mesh in here years ago and it was all orange, 355-420 counts.  Before I knew any better, I tried printing a few jobs through those mesh counts and things didn't turn out well.  Inks don't travel well through those counts, plastisol at least.

I've had orange and red mesh before, about 12 years ago, nobody sells it now. . although, I was reading my valley Litho catalog like I usually do on a friday night and I noticed they had orange.....

we just switched over to 70/90/70 on most of the squeegies and holy smokes, dot gain = gone compared to our 60/90/60, we'll be printing this sucker up on monday.
