SRoques First customer
« on: October 01, 2012, 02:40:08 PM »
I'm Ryan, I'm a one man band that does it all for my shop. Been family owned since 1986. Essentially Jack of all trades and Master of none. As the title states I am Sroques first US purchase as the press has been a hot topic in the last week so I mine as well get out there. Been an observer for a while and need to start participating now as I can offer some real world feed back on the "hot" topic. Glad to be here
~Ryan

Howdy and welcome again. I remember emailing or messaging you a welcome back in August, and warning you about another Gilly we have here. Just keep sounding like you know what you're talking about, and there will be no confusion LOL!
Glad to see you finally jumping in.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

A lot of us sound like we halfway know what we're saying, so we're close. Welcome

Welcome,  now down to business ;)

Whats the scoop , how big of a press did you buy and what made you go this way. Any features you saw that made the difference.

Thanks
Croft

Not sure why everyone likes to put the y on the end of my name.  Gill, seems to be more fitting... though lots of my friends do call me "G"... either way, I was kind of confused myself.  Probably in the same manner some others were.

A "y" sound after the name or first syllable of multi syllable name is a term of endearment, (though sometimes used a little sarcastically). Mikey sold a lot of Life Cereal! Jackie boy was what Jack heard from the bad guy in The Talisman. My son Joshua was almost a teenager before his grandparents realized that "Joshie" wasn't cutting it any longer.

To us, you will sometimes be Gilly. You're just not apparently THE Gilly.

Now, Ghillie (or Gillie) is another thing completely. I learned about that years ago, watching "Monarch of the Glen",  a program that took place on a large estate in Scotland. They employed a ghillie named Golly who acted as a gamekeeper and guide and helper for fishing and hunting.
Towards the end of the show, a few of the local women with whom he cavorted via regular visits explained how he got the name "Golly".

Perhaps it will just be easier to ignore the both of you.  ;D
