Dip Tank Disapointment
« on: September 23, 2012, 06:37:28 PM »
Well maybe the dip tank setup is not meant for my weekend setup. I purchased the 30 gal.  Easyway Supra system about 6 months ago, and this weekend we go to dipping screens and we find out our dip tank is dead will not remove the stencil.  Me  being a weekend fri-sat-sun printer we may clean 50 screens per month we do it about once a month because I have several newman roller frames and don't have the need to clean more often. We clean most of the ink out of the screens using Easyway 201. I thought that I would get more mileage out of the Supra. Don't know maybe that is the norm. But seemed to me to be a short life span. I was told by a board member that the 201 would damage the Supra, may have. Anyway back to the spray bottle cleaning system, I'm not sure if I want to by more Supra. If the 201 is the culprit, I am supprised  that my screen print supplier did not inform me of the problem of using 201 and Supra.

We use Franmar one step clear. It lasts about six months or 600 screens.
As long as you don't contaminate it with another chemical.
When it goes dead it goes dead.
It's not cheap, but it works great. We've been using it for about four years.

We use Franmar's Onestep also.  The first batch I totally screwed up and crashed it.  What I didn't know was the ink on the screens tends to wear the Onestep solution out quicker.  When I replaced the Onestep solution I started washing the ink off before I soaked them, this included rinsing off the ink and the Beaniedo. I have gotten amazing mileage out of my Onestep by cleaning my screens this way.

Yep and Franmar has the little bag of powder you can add to the tank when it's dead to make it drain safe...or toilet safe more specifically.  The easistrip supra was never as good as franmar, tried it once, then switched back.  I card ink out but don't remove it completely before dipping, spray out from shirt side so residual ink doesn't get pushed through the mesh, degrease with 701 and dry.

U use  easyway also a weekend printer about 40- 50 screens a month. I am going on a year with no issues, actually I have a bunch of ink mud in bottom so I will be cleaning it out soon but seems to work good still.

Isn't the whole point of Onestep, to be one step, without the need to clean the ink separately? If your ink is already cleaned with Beaniedo, couldn't you save some $ by using a plain old emulsion remover in your tank?
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

Yep. We use cci gemzyne now in the tank. One step was never anything but an emulsion stripper for us.  Worked fine for that just too expensive and not concentrated enough in comparison.

rmonk, reckon you contaminated the tank and it had a premature death.  make sure you rinse with the press washer after ink cleaner, before dipping.

Yeah, I saw the vid you posted long ago using it as intended.  That's too much pressure washing for us.  With the dedicated ink and emulsion remover it goes quicker for us and there is much less dehazing that needs to be done when you start with an ink degrader.  Each chem can do it's thing better this way I guess.

But it would be pretty cool to do it the way you do, just can't get it to happen in our shop which is weird b/c I think we both use Aquasol HV and phthalate-free plastisols right?
