great foam is an excellent sealant for this sort of thing...fyi

the best part is uv rays break it down super fast.  in a couple weeks it should come right off.

Is that stuff closed cell?

I really don't know, I know the stuff they sprayed in my shop is open cell... closed cell was SUBSTANTIALLY more $$$$$$$!

great stuff is closed cell, it will not absorb water.  I've heard of a lot of people using this stuff for this purpose

I actually remember there being a huge debate on a fishing forum about great stuff being open or closed cell, but I do know that we were getting water in months ago through a hole in the cinderblock and I had great stuffed the heck out of it - water/moisture was still getting in.   Once I added some silicone, it's been dry and no more mold growing on the inside of the wall by that hole.

the great foam website lists it as closed cell.  we had a soft spot in the hull of our old boat, filled it with great foam and it solved the problem.  Lasted several years before we rebuilt the boat and the stringers.  Then the transom went and I found this pink fiberglass goop that you shove down in the transom and boy howdy did that stuff work like a charm

Tance,

Where are you located?

My plan is to tie a bunch of infant floaties to the press and dryer. At least some of the electronics will stay above water that way :).

I'm in Vidalia, so we won't get the worst of it, but the thing keeps moving west, and as you know the east side of the storm is the worst side...

Gilligan do you plan on closing any? As long as we don't lose power we're going to try to keep rolling.

Probably depends on what everyone else is doing.

If everyone expects us to be closed then we might as well since no one will come in anyway.

But in reality as long as things are going well... I've got  a lot of work to catch up on.  I'm hoping this will give me some time to do so. ;)

We just went through it in S Fl. I hope it does not get any stronger for you guys. We had it very lucky. The wind was no worse than a bad summer storm. It is wet though. I am in the same house I was the last 4 hurricanes and never had this much water. We have about 8" in back and the streets were 2 - 3' under in some spots in my neighborhood. I have never seen it like this.
We will pray that it goes through quickly and leaves little or no real damage.
Good luck,
Matt

Glad to have you with us still. :). And even Gilligan also.

I think you guys would do ok coming up with a tee shirt to sell on line. Some Huricane tees sell for years later.
The one I did for Katrina is still being printed for Internet sales.
