2 screens for white on an auto

Ok my dillema is I need to run 600 royal blue shirts with white ink. Some of you may know I do not have enough electrical capacity to run the 220 flashes I have with my Javelin. So what I am thinking of doing is taking my manual flash (110V) apart and setting it up in one of the heads. My concern would be if I end up having to double stroke the first white screen which I may knowing the Javelin I will be getting a double flash on head 3. My other thought would be to setup the manual flash on the unload station and run em around twice with 1 screen. How would you do it in this situation? Also if running 2 screens do you choke the art on the first screen?

600 blue shirts with white ink, yeah id do 2 screens and flash after the first.  you could run em around twice if thats what you need to do for your flash situation.  just the thought of loading and unloading next to a flash just turns my stomach though, but if its what has to be done to get the work out the door, gotta do it.

I also have a downed version of the Jav. with 6 colors and I remove 3 of the screws on the number 3 head and leave one, unhook my air lines and rotate it up out of the way and move a manual flash to where it is about 1 inch from the pallet when in the printing up position. I will do this even when I do not use the flash for the print to heat the pallets ( the white goes so much smoother when the pallets are hot, you don't get that leather feel) I have had times where in order to get a nice print I would double print the shirt PPF and send it around for another PPF if using higher mesh 200 or 230. I like my white to be white... I know it takes longer but I cannot stand the leather feel of a pulled ink. If it is good spot color you could set up 2 screens and then use the manual flash for the second flash, it works well. Good luck

I would do anything in my power to not have to run them around twice.

I don't follow on why the manual flash wouldn't work? Can you just hang it in
one of the heads? It doesn't have to shuttle, and if you lag too long just half
index or freewheel.

Or, turn a couple panels off on the dryer and plug your 220 flash in. Run a little
slower but anything beats doubling your time. (going around twice)

And no choke/trap on two whites. If your press can't hold it and you have a little
white peeking out, it's white.

We used to use our manual in our javelin just like sports said. Move the front of the head out of the way and roll the flash in to position. Run two white screens and have several heads between the flash and the second white to allow cooling. And get those palettes nice and toasty it helps a ton.

first station do a 156 mesh with white ink...flash on head 2  go around to the last head you have and put in a 156 mesh and you will have a awesome looking shirt.....

1 flash 2 screens and rock and roll...take about 1-1.5 hrs if you are printing by yourself...

Dont have to flash it twice. I was just thinking if I had to double stroke on head 1, the shirt on head 2 would be flashed twice as the Jav does not print twice with the table up.

@ ProsperiTees  if all you have is a 110 flash unit here is what you can do if you have an extra flash unit to waste.  I took my old flash unit (110) and a old screen frame, mounted the flash on the old frame and control box and bang a flash I can slide in any head I need it for.  here is a very bad pic.

you can doublestroke it use a good opacity white with a little puff in it 110 mesh
run one thru the dryer see the results

This is how I would do it.  I have a freedom so your may be a little different.

You can take the 4 bolts out of the end print station 2 or 3 and the flip it up side down  and replace 1 of the bolts so it will stay up side down.  The take your manual flash and raise it so when the auto is in the print mode it will be the correct height for the flash. The burn 2 screens 1 for station 1 and the second for station 4.  do and single print on both or double one of them and you will be good to go.

...i think what he means is that if doublestroking the first screen, the shirt will, in effect, be under the flash nearly twice as long. I have had to do something similar to this when my 220v flash went out at a critical time, I moved a 110V manual flash in to substitute.

...I would not worry much at all about flashing too long on an auto press using a 110V flash, you will probably need that longer time to get the ink to gel anyway. Those 110V flashes dont have nearly as intense heat as their 220v counterparts. I'd maybe keep an eye on it as you run, if it makes ya feel better, but I recall having to slow down quite a bit to get it to run smoothly in this way (still faster than "revolvering" though, provided you have someone to catch).

Depending on the size of the image you may be able to take a few bulbs out of the flash to reduce the amps to where you can run everything. Keep in mind the draw will drop when the bulbs are hot, compressor will only draw fl amps when starting and once the dryer heats up the panels will only be on a percentage of the time. Maybe even only one. Maybe heat the flash up, warm the pallets then turn the dryer on and run the job.
