Recent issue...email or gmail?
« on: August 06, 2012, 12:12:50 PM »
In the last three or four days, I have gotten this message on two separate email attempts, both gmail addresses.
It's them, right? The message is a little unclear as to which end is goofing up.

Could be your outgoing mail server as well.

Like I said, the message is remarkably non-specific and unclear.
I am waiting to see if I ever get it with a different destination than gmail.

We all have a CAP on our email that we get at one time.  It needs to be cleared out if it gets close or full.

I do that by logging into our main account (i.e.) Road runner and clear out the clog. If I receive several very large files at once, (20 mb each) for example, it will clog and not download to my email program on my PC.  I did however, ask them to up my email holding folder and they did it. Like when I first noticed that issues, I could not even get 20 meg emails but now I can.

I have 8 years worth of emails in my gmail account , I saved everything out of laziness to delete.  No issues here...

Well,  I save the same way. I have years of emails,  but they are not stored in my email server. When you download your email (from your server), it is downloaded to your email program. So when you save your emails in folders in your email program, they are really being stored in your program (on your PC) if I am not mistaken.  If I try to save or back up all of my emails that I have stored in folders in my program, they do not come from my server, but rather from my email program that I have on my PC.  The only thing that is stored on your server is your emails that have not been downloaded to you yet (as well as possibly a reserve that is set for so many email, such as 25, 100, 200 etc.

I took this to mean that the entire service was overloaded, not the recipient's mail box.
Likewise, my mailbox being full should not affect outgoing mail.

With Gmail I do not think it is possible to fill your mailbox.....I get to about 40% and they give you more space....Are you using web mail for gmail or an email cleint?

I was sending replies to clients who have gmail. And a few minutes later, they go through.

If the message is instantaneous on your end, then the problem is with your server.

Server issues on the receiving end show up as a return email a few moments (or days in some cases)
later.

Your server can either be too busy, or full. (yes, even on the send, possibly set to IMAP?)

My guess, Astound is skimping on the server power.

I think that you are right, but of course, when pressed on the issue, they passed the buck to Thunderbird, or anyone other than themselves.
