We've noticed some metal shavings on our Tajima 6 head by the Z-spec Frame, and Slide base, anyone ever have this? There are bearings down there, think 1 could have gone out on a 5 year old machine?

Could be a shot in the dark but I believe there is felt in that area which may have worn away causing friction between the metal....I would call a tech though if it is still happening because you don't want to wear out your machine.

here are two users groups on Yahoo groups specifically dedicated to Tajima machines.
Usually pretty helpful and the tech guys are always lurking around.

Thanks guys, we ended up finding the problem. We had broke one of the black plastic topped wingnuts that lock in the square frames. We took one from one of the hat drivers and didn't reallize it's a little longer than the ones that are on the back frame holder. When that 1 would get moved to hold in a square frame, it was just long enough to barely touch inside when the frame is moving back and forth and do a little grinding. I'm glad we found it before it went too long and dug in.

Great!  It is always good to figure it out before too much damage is done, then ends up costing you an arm and then some.

OH I know what you mean. We are about 2 days before the tech came when we figured it out. Who knows what that bill could have turned out to be all for a dam screw.  :o

That is better than me.  I had to stop the tech coming just hours before he planned on being here.  I was messing around with it and finally figured it out.  I have a hard time giving up on something once I start.
