Lint on the back of a screen...
« on: May 20, 2011, 05:32:27 PM »
... just finished a job that had a lot of halftone dots. I've been trying to remove lint from the underside of the screen using a fingertip and the result was often an ink smudge that had the potential to mess up the next shirt.
.. switched to using a piece of scotchtape and the lint almost jumps off the screen onto the tape, without smudging the ink and messing up the halftone effect of the next shirt.

sometimes with really linty shirts, we run a greaser with some wb glue of the underside. put it in the first head and it stops the issue. good call on the tape. . works faster.

I swear... lint can cut your production speed by 20%.
And, carding ink back into the center of the screen another 20%.

I'm going to some type of winged floodbar, I'm sick of messing with ink.

AND you can spray a little spray tack on your hand and wipe the shirt when you lay it down.. works pretty good till you go to whiz... ;D

One of the first things one learns with an automatic, is that the dust bunnies especially like the first head, so that 8. 10. 12, or whatever number of shirts have the spot before you see it when pulling.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

we are all winged floods, some say you don't need them if you are printing right but I say pfft to that -they are "the cats ass" . .worth every penny, and the blades are steel vs aluminum  -atleast Action's are- so they don't chip and burr.

I havent seen a use for winged fb's on colors, but on white they are an absolute necessity at my shop.
