Kiwo Discharge emulsion breaking down

Ran 400 pieces yesterday using Kiwo Discharge emulsion and Texcharge ink - went to move a piece of tape on the screen and took a whole chunk of emulsion with it.

The screens were post exposed and I double checked exposure times with an exposure calculator to make sure those were correct as well.  Besides using hardener (which I didn't) is there something else I'm missing?

I had no luck with Kiwo. That old adage "You get what you pay for" applies here. I went through a couple of qts testing it. No good for discharge on longer runs in our experience. We tested it on half a dozen jobs and it broke down pretty quickly.

what did you end up going with? I tried a gallon of the kiwo discharge, it was ok. I liked the aquasol hv the best.

No problem with testing new emulsions but I think the consensus is, Ulano 925 WR is by far the best emulsion for the discharge/wb printing.  I tried the kiwo 300wr on 3 short runs with no issues but I just don't see myself buying a gallon of anything but the 925.  I'll use the free quarts all day long and if I come across something that works on long runs like the 925 we might look into it, but I'm about tired of testing emulsions and I'm going to stick with the 925.

That's what we've got coming in tomorrow to replace this stuff - can't wait to really dig in to some texcharge.

You cant go wrong with the 925WR but it has a really short shelf life so if you do not do a lot of discharge then keep that in mind. Our discharge is hit and miss. We may run a bunch then not run any for a few weeks. I also like Aquasol HV. It seems to have a better shelf life and last well on press.

My Kiwo Discharge is doing alright so far.  I can't build as thick a stencil as I can with Aquasol though.

My best solution, and what I'm going to go back to, is Aquasol and use the wipe on hardener for WB prints.  Works perfectly, dries quickly, no worries, reclaims just as easily as non-hardened screens.
