Some News
« on: June 19, 2012, 07:26:46 AM »
Well for those who care I have teamed up with Andy Anderson at Anderson studios. My thanks to Pierre and others who wish to remain anonymous for their support during a very stressful time.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Thats good to hear Tony.

Just a thought something i have always noticed in this industry and wonder if others agree. I have always noticed that the best our industry has to offer other than owners of course seem to bounce around. Not because of their work ethic of course but maybe they are so good at what they do they have a very hard time finding the perfect fit. You would think a person like Tony or so many others in his position would have a life long career with one company.

Thanks all. It's official today is my last day, what a relief! It's true that some of us bounce around. Thing is there is no one solid answer as to why. This will be the fifth merger/acquisition that I have been a part of so there's something to look at.
BTW these folks will have gone through four Production Managers in less than a year so maybe there's another answer.

What I've noticed over the years is guys like Tony make a place run right, then get replaced by someone for less money...

Thats what i was thinking. And that makes me realize it must be pretty cut throat in the larger volume shops.

Wow Tony,  Who's of thunk you would have joined forces with another top gun. Awesome!

In the large shops that I know, many do go through production managers probably about every 3 years.  Why? Not sure exactly. I agree with what most have said and I'll also include, that the better production managers often do not get (as much) pay as they are worth. These people are usually business savvy and know what they are worth to the Co. So they move on if they can't get a decent compensation for what they are doing.

Often, after getting hired with additional promises, they can find out that the carrot they chase is not as big or nill. Another factor as many of you know, is that moving up within the same company is far slower paced with less sizable raises. Staying at one shop for a few years and moving on, increases your pay to the next place much larger and faster. Sorry, I'm starting to turn this into some other direction.

Back on track. Tony, It seems someone wants to maintain what they've already started over the years by bringing in another (fresher) top gun maybe. ;)  Congrats.

Finally, awesome news Tony, never sounded like you were all that happy where you were.  There gonna crap when your gone and they start falling apart, hopefully they paid attention to what you did while you were there.
