What do I need to do to make an underbase for this. I am totally confused. The blue is the shirt color but if I knock it out its wrong. Can someone help me please.
In Illy,
hit expand twice (only needed once in this case, but some files need it twice).
-hit pathfinder "merge". This will flatten the image without converting the spots to CMYK.
-use a wand and hit the orange, ctr+G to group, ctrl+3 to hide.
-Pick white with the wand, repeat group and hide.
-Use your "group selection tool" (arrow with a plus) to select everything visible and invisible on the screen and delete it. You should have two groups left. One orange and one white.
-in "Layers" panel drag the orange to the "create a new layer" on the bottom. This will duplicate the orange group.
-select one orange group and change the color to white. If your white is just regular white rather than a spot color, double click on it and chnage it from process to spot in the dialog that opens.
-You should have two white groups and an orange. Select the one that is the same as orange and add stroke as desired. We usually add 0.5 pt to the outside.
and voila, it's done!
With a little practice, you should be able to do this in about a min, two at the most.
