Nazdar DA series help

OK a while back I inquired about help printing waterproof ponchos. I took advice and purchase a test size amount of the DA series and catalyst.

On the first test I used our old balance based system for measuring just an old scale with weights in different increments of grams, not greatly accurate at all. Printed twelve test ponchos and tried twelve different ways to cure, all failed not one is cured all are still sticky ugh.

So Friday I purchased a much more accurate digital scale capable to .5g.. mixed up some DA again and printed six more. Came in today to see how they are and just as wet as when they were first printed, no curing what so ever!

WTF! I hear about this ink from others and there must be something I am missing, what is the process for others that have used this ink successfully?

We have an initial order for 3,000 of these high end ponchos with reorders periodically. I do not want to here from the masses we should sub out, understand we are a full print shop and wish to know how to print things like this successfully. We have several months before the first order is due so if no solution is figured out by then we will sub out but seriously we need to be able to do this our selves especially with reorders following.

According to Charles River they use the same inks and do not seem to have the issue as us. I doubt the ink is a dud it stinks plenty of solvent which tells me the active ingredients are still there.

Mike, I know that you read the instructions, but are you absolutely sure that you added enough catalyst? With that ink, it's a very high 22% of the total (1 part cat. to 3.5 ink)
Next, there is also an accelerator available to reduce drying time.

I mixed 3.5 ounces of ink and 1.3 ouncebof the catalyst. I did not know of the accelerator Nazdar failed to mention it to me on the phone. Going to wait and see what other users experience are then try the accelerator

I apologize for the difficulties you've been having with our DA Series Screen Ink. Based on your posts it sounds like the ink is properly catalyzed. What material is the poncho made of?

I apologize for the difficulties you've been having with our DA Series Screen Ink. Based on your posts it sounds like the ink is properly catalyzed. What material is the poncho made of?

Unless there is a strange chemical reaction, how would that affect the ink's cure? Is this what you're getting at?

They are charles river 100% water proof nylon.

I did a thrid test mix this time I added a bit more catalyst that recommended and it seems to have done the trick, it took about 24 hrs before the tackiness went away. Next is to give it some wash testing at the end of the week. I guess the other ones not cured to the touch will never cure.

Either way we need to at least try the accelerator in hopes that we can at least start stacking them in less than 24 hours other wise space will be eaten far to quick.
